Army Day 2024: India Celebrating the courage and sacrifice

Indian Army Day

India is gearing up to celebrate Army Day on January 15th with immense pride and gratitude. This special day holds even greater significance as it marks the 76th anniversary of the historic moment when Field Marshal K M Cariappa took over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army from the British in 1949.

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, is set to host the grand celebrations this year, where a parade will unfold in the presence of dignitaries, and the Indian Army Chief will take the salute. The spotlight will be on the Central Command, based in Lucknow, leading the parade. This command is one of the seven groups that constitute the Indian Army. Notably, the Southern Command took charge of the parade in Bengaluru the previous year.

Army Day isn’t just about celebration; it’s a day of reflection and remembrance. It’s a day to honor the countless brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation, acknowledge the unwavering dedication of those guarding our borders, and appreciate the sacrifices made by their families.

The theme for Indian Army Day 2024 is “In Service of the Nation.” This theme underscores the core values of the Army, emphasizing dedication, commitment, and professionalism. It echoes the Army’s motto, “Service Before Self,” highlighting that soldiers prioritize the safety and security of the nation. The theme aims to inspire the youth, fostering love and respect for the country.

As the nation looks forward to Army Day 2024, it’s a time to come together, pay homage to the heroes, and celebrate the spirit of service that defines the Indian Army.
